Apple stole my identity!

Ok not really, but it’s kinda creepy: Today I bought a Mac Mini at the Apple Store in the International Plaza Mall in Tampa. (woo, and got my 6% Disney discount way out there!). I used my Paypal card to get another 1.5% cash back, of course. This happens to be the same credit card I have on file with my Apple ID for iTunes purchases. When I got home tonight, I had an email from Apple telling me how excited they are that I bought a Mac.

I never told the sales associate Nathan who rang me up my email address. The only link is my Paypal MasterCard. That’s pretty damn sweet. Computers is like smart ‘n stuff. I bet the rest of you folks (my parents included) would be shaking in your boots if/when you experience something like that, eh?

Now that I think of it, my email address and telephone number are on my receipt too. Cool. Though I did purchase OS X 10.1 at this very store back in 2001. Maybe they asked for it then. *shrug*

  2. We were just at the apple store the other day, and they emailed Eric’s receipt to him, rather than print it out.

  3. I went back to the Apple Store to get a Wacom Graphire4 tablet with Tracy (she got a mini+tablet too, copycat!) and they asked her for her email address. So they must’ve just kept it on file from when I bought 10.1 for buttons years ago.

That’s nice of them to let you use your paper.
