Disney has been talking since May 2003 about unloading the stores. Last March, the company closed its Disney Stores at Altamonte Mall and Orlando Fashion Square as part of a national plan to close 150 stores as their leases expire.

The fire marshal says they need an escape route along the track. “This is the first time we’ve ever had a fire in the 42-year history of the monorail,” said Perry Cooper, spokesman for the city’s monorail system.
